Abstract
This paper is a progress report on the program at MIT to demonstrate the feasibility and potentials for the application of superconductors in the rotating field windings of large central station synchronous generators. A brief history of the program and a synopsis of previously reported results are given. The second experimental machine (which will have a rating of about 2 MVA) is described. Keywords
