Abstract
Gastric ulcer formation in guinea pigs (GP) served as the criterion of toxicity. Ingestion of thyroxine produced in mixtures of Na glycocholate and Na taurocholate injected intra-perit. an increase in toxicity, greater in [female] than in [male] GP (as was also the loss in body wt.), but in both sexes relatively proportional to the amt. of thyroxine ingested. Thyroxine had the same effect with Na cholate and deoxycholate, but not with Na dehydrocholate. The changes observed may in part be due to disturbances of the lipid metabolism. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
