Abstract
The distribution of a number of characters among the spccics of Neopanax and Pseudopanax is examined. It is concluded that these spccics form a single genus occurring in Chile, New Zealand, Tasmania, New Caledonia, and China. Pseudopanax has priority. The following new combinations are made: Pseudopanax ammalum, P. simplex, P. tolensoi, P. arboreum, P. laetum, P. ktrmadectnse, P. davidii, P. delavayi, P. rostbornii, P. gmmii, P. scopoliae. The characters distinguishing Stilbocarpa and Kirkophytum are considered to be insufficient. It is recommended that these genera be re-united. A key recognising four genera of Araliaceae in New Zealand is provided. Keywords
