Abstract
This study examines cost and outcome in a series of 50 low birthweight infants who suffered severe intraventricular-periventricular hemorrhage and subsequently required ventriculoperitoneal shunting. Although nearly one third of these children might achieve some degree of self-sufficiency, a cost-benefit analysis in this shunted population is not encouraging. Keywords
