Laser Interferometer Instrumented in a Disk Antenna for Gravitational Radiation

Abstract
Disk antennas combined with a laser interferometer as a displacement transducer can be made into highly sensitive, wideband detectors for gravitational radiation. The proposed detector system, which operates at room temperature, has a minimum detectable amplitude of gravitational radiation, h min=4×10-18, and a detection bandwidth of 80 Hz at around 1.2 kHz. The expected performance of the laser transducer is calculated and the feasibility of this type of detector for gravitational radiation is shown.
