Abstract
Chronic recurrent parotitis is difficult to treat. In the last few years a method suggested earlier on, namely the ligation of the parotid duct, has come into use. It is a simple procedure, which, in six of the seven cases in which it had been carried out, led to excellent results. The seventh case has been operated quite recently and the results cannot be evaluated as yet. The method ought to be tried even in enlargement of the parotid gland of other origin, e.g. in Mikulicz' disease. There is all the more reason for doing this since the two conditions are not easily distinguished from one another. The great resemblance of findings on sialography is noteworthy. Keywords
