ABSENTEEISM IN A LOW STATUS WORK ENVIRONMENT.

Abstract
The article presents information on a study which examined absenteeism and its correlates in a low status work environment in the United States. It discusses the relationship between job dissatisfaction and absenteeism. It also investigates freedom of worker choice and absenteeism, and common causes of work absence. Nonattitudinal information about on and off job activities were gathered in the work related information and personal history characteristics. Tenure plays an important role in all of the absence models in relation to specific correlates of absenteeism.
