Abstract
Different treatments of the important potential 1/r4 are correlated to understand their interrelations and to clear up the connection between the eigenvalues of Mathieu’s equation and the poles of the S matrix. We also derive a new solution of the modified Mathieu equation. Mathematical and physical implications are also discussed. Keywords
