Abstract
We numerically compared symmetric and asymmetric dispersion slope compensation schemes in a long-haul, chirped-return-to-zero, wavelength-division-multiplexed system. Symmetric compensation has significant advantages over asymmetric compensation. We elucidate the physical reasons and the system implications. Keywords
