Abstract
A study of the temperature dependence of the position, shape, and width of the submillimeter cyclotron-resonance absorption line has provided data which have been compared with the predictions of several theoretical models. The data favor the valence-band structure of tellurium as proposed by Weiler. This shows that the Landau levels are not parallel in the direction. It also shows that the transitions between Landau levels at low temperature occur at the valence-band maximum on the camel back and not at . Previous experiments, two other theoretical models, and previous attempts to fit band parameters are reviewed and evaluated.
