Abstract
The maximum conversion efficiency of diluted radiation is strongly dependent on the factor beta defined by Landsberg and Tonge (1979). The upper bound eta M=1-4/3x+1/3x4 proposed by the quoted authors (with x=T0/Te) can be improved by taking x=(T0/Te)( beta / sigma )-1/4 where sigma is Stefan's constant and T0 and Te are the ambient temperature and the effective temperature of diluted radiation respectively.
