Abstract
Generation of optical pulses at gigabit rates from semiconductor lasers by means of harmonic-frequency sinusoidal injection current modulation has been demonstrated for the first time. It was confirmed that these optical pulses consisted of one longitudinal oscillating mode because of the presence of a ‘self-optical injection-locking effect’.Keywords
