Abstract
Because of the dominant position of the United States in the world today, the opinion of Americans about international affairs is of great concern to governments, business interests, and private individuals in other countries. And in America (unlike the situation in certain countries) efforts to manipulate opinion are relatively unchecked. As revealed in a report of the Department of Justice, representatives of foreign interests are using “every conceivable device of publicity and public relations” to win the friendship of the American people. An account of some of these activities makes fascinating, if disturbing, reading. Keywords
