Laboratory Rearing of Spot Shrimp Larvae (Pandalus platyceros) and Descriptions of Stages

Abstract
Spot shrimp (Pandalus platyceros) were cultured in the laboratory from ovigerous females and eggs detached from females caught in Dabob Bay of Hood Canal, Washington. A tank was designed specifically to incubate the detached eggs in a recirculating seawater system. After hatching, the larvae were cultured in beakers in a water bath and fed newly-hatched Artemia.Morphological descriptions of the larval stages were made and discussed. The fifth stage was considered the megalopa (post-larval).
