Abstract
This new variation on an old technique can actually define the physical state of a tissue—not merely visualize its size and motion. Clinical use awaits technologic refinements, but potential applications include noninvasive detection of amyloid protein, of myofibrillar disorientation characteristic of idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, and of various kinds of vascular pathology.Keywords
