Abstract
Aspects of B.F. Skinner's development into a social engineer are examined with particular consideration of the link between his later work and his reliance on operationism. Special emphasis is given to his manner of argument. Analysis of this style provides a perspective not accessible through attempts to locate Skinner's work in terms of traditions of thinking. Keywords
