Abstract
Angular distributions for elastic and inelastic scattering of 50 MeV pions from , , and are reported. The elastic scattering data are fitted with an optical model in configuration space. Distorted wave calculations reproduce the inelastic data. The extracted neutron and proton matrix elements are consistent with measurements using other probes.
