Value—analysis of the Arab—Israeli conflict: 1969–1976

Abstract
This paper employs White's value‐analysis (1951) to gain insights into the role of values in the resolution of the conflict between the Arab states and Israel following the 1973 October War. Our analysis of the documents of key decision‐makers from both groups revealed that the values of “peace” and “sovereignty” (freedom) were especially important to them. The Arabs saw Israel as being an imperialist power in this context, while Israel felt that her existence was threatened by the possible establishment of a secular Palestinian state.
