Abstract
Five types of dried torula yeast with varying amounts of thiamine, niacin, and riboflavin were substituted for brewer''s yeast in the larval rearing medium of the Mexican fruit fly. Anastrepha ludens (Lowe). Concentrations ranging from 4 to 5% in combination with dehydrated or fresh carrot resulted in 10-30% higher larval recoveries and similar larval weights compared with the controls which were fed medium containing dried brewer''s yeast. Torula reduces the cost of ingredients of the medium by 1.5-20%.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
