Abstract
Deficient bone growth in the posterior parts of the vertebral bodies is described in a patient 20 years after irradiation for medulloblastoma. The literature on radiation-induced disorders of bone growth is reviewed and the normal development and blood supply of the vertebrae are described. Reduction in bone growth may have been caused by impaired reproductive integrity of chondroblasts, osteoblasts or angioblasts, or it may have been caused by damage to the blood vessels. Radiation techniques aimed at avoiding bone deformities are discussed. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
