Transitions from the Clinic to School: The Changing Picture of Specific Language Impaired Children from Pre-School to School Age

Abstract
The present paper looks at the changing picture presented by children with specific language impairment (SLI), from preschool to the early school years, with particular emphasis on 7 year olds. It appears that children with SLI have difficulties as infants in school with all the core subjects: English, Maths and Science. In addition, the question of the possible integration of these children to the mainstream is raised and discussed in light of current evidence.
