Influence of Process Conditions on the Effect of Ozone Treatment of Organic Substances in the Water

Abstract
The effect of intermittent versus simultaneous continuous addition of ozone was examined on the removal of humic acid from the water of Lake Constance and the river Ruhr. The intermittent addition was found to be significantly more effective and to produce more polar and small molecule oxidation products with lower trihalomethane formation potential.
