Abstract
The effect of small light-weight exclosure cages, covering pasture for 7–14 days, on herbage DM yield was determined in each of four seasons in paddocks containing pastures of contrasting initial yield. There was no significant effect of cages on final herbage yield, and no interaction between cages and time of enclosure, or cages and paddocks, on subsequent yield. The overall effect of initial yield on subsequent growth rate of pasture was not significant in any season.
