Abstract
Obscuration of the superior margin of the aortic knob together with a widening of the mediastinal shadow to the left is a common sign of coarctation of the aorta. It is easily seen on the routine frontal chest film and may be the first detected evidence of the lesion. Although the appearance is not pathognomonic of a coarctation, it certainly indicates the need for further studies. Keywords
