Abstract
28 Thai subjects with Fasciolopsis buski infection were matched with negative controls and both groups were studied in a search for prevailing clinical and biochemical abnormalities attributable to this parasite. Clinical examination, evaluation of growth and development, haematological studies and screening tests for the intestinal malabsorption syndrome did not reveal significant differences between positive and control subjects. We conclude that F. buski in less than massive numbers probably is not directly responsible for overt clinical disease or malabsorption in the area studied in Thailand. Keywords
