Effect of Streptomycin on Budwood Infected With Phytomonas pruni

Abstract
Streptomycin, both crude and crystalline, successfully freed plum budwood from infection with P. pruni. The crude drug in a strength of 6-8 Oxford units and a strong conc. of the crystalline drug in sterile dist. water, acting overnight on budwood submerged or with the basal I1/2 A inches immersed in the soln., all in an enclosed partially evacuated chamber at room temp., resulted in bud-wood from which no organisms whatever could be cultured.
