Abstract
This paper reviews the application of high-frequency microwave radiation to plasma heating near the electron cyclotron frequency in tokamaks and stellarators. Successful plasma heating by microwave power has been demonstrated in numerous experiments. Predicted future technological developments and current theoretical understanding suggest that a vigorous program in plasma heating will continue to yield promising results. Keywords
