Mode Selectivity and Amplification in Twin-Guide Lasers

Abstract
An integrated twin-guide (ITG for short) laser is considered to be one kind of integrated-optics laser or a new type of Laser [1]–[3]. It integrates monolithically an active waveguide for the laser oscillation and an external passive waveguide through which the laser beam is taken. Oscillation characteristics of AlGaAs ITG lasers by optical pumping [1] and current injection pumping [2] were already reported. The axial mode selectivity and the reduction of output beam angle together with the possibility of monolithic integration of other optical devices, along the extension of the external passive-guide, were point out [3][4].
