Abstract
Late-season foliar applications of lead arsenate and DDT cannot be applied in New Brunswick for apple maggot (Rhagoletis pomonella) control because of the danger of exceeding residue tolerances. The soil fumigants DD (1,3-dichloropropene and 1,2 dichloropropane mixture), Dowfume W-85 (1,2-dibromoethane), Nemagon (1-2, dibromo-3-chloropropane) and the soil insecticides endrin, dieldrin and aldrin and Varsol plus nicotine were compared in triplicate plots in one soil surface treatment in 1960 and 1961. The results based on total number of adults caught within cages are shown in descending values of efficiency as follows: Dowfume W-85, DD, Nemagon, endrin, Varsol plus nicotine, aldrin and dieldrin. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
