Abstract
In central North Caroline the A1 plus A2 horizons of Ultisols in medium textured materials are thinnest in the poorly and moderately well-drained and thickest in the well-drained soils. In the well-drainged soils the clay content and thickness of the A horizons possibly are related to depth of the winter water table. These relations suggest that A2 horizon formation is most active at well-drained sites. Total time of weathering is less important in determining A2 horizon characteristics than the total time a site has been well-drained.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
