Abstract
A new rheological model for soil behavior, which consists of a series of Bingham and Voigt models, was proposed from uniaxial creep test results. This model, which is called the visco-plastic-elastic model, may suffice to explain the state changes of soil based on state of water content and stress level. Three submodels, visco-elastic model, visco-plastic model, and viscous model, were consequently deduced from the original model basically by boundaries of critical stress and consistencies, i.e., visco-plastic limit and liquid limit. The creep and flow behaviors of these three models have been examined in relation to the general soil properties. Keywords
