A Lower Limit for the Ground State of the Helium Atom

Abstract
A method of obtaining a lower limit for the ground state of any system in terms of the energy difference between the ground state and the next highest state is given. Applied to the helium atom this gives a rough value of as compared to the experimental value of -5.818R.
