Abstract
A new modification of the surgical technique for myopic epikeratophakia involves creating a peripheral lamellar dissection in the recipient stroma at the base of the keratectomy and increasing the graft/bed disparity such that the tissue lens is 1.5 mm larger in diameter than the trephined bed. Tissue lenses of three powers sewn onto adult African green monkey eyes demonstrated changes in refractive error closer to the predicted values, fewer folds in the host cornea, more central flattening effect, and less astigmatism. Keywords
