Abstract
An automated pulsed magnetic resonance spectrometer utilizing sampling and averaging techniques is described. This system is used to make T1 measurements in normal hydrogen gas at 77.5, 195, and 298 °K in the pressure range 1 to 2400 atm. The results in the dilute gas, extreme narrowing region are discussed in terms of the possibility of obtaining T1/ρ values accurate to 1%. The dense gas results show a density dependence similar to that of earlier measurements made in the compressed liquid. This density dependence is not understandable in terms of the liquid model of the Bloom–Oppenheim theory. Keywords
