Abstract
The interspecific diploid hybrid between Psathyrostachys juncea (2x = 14) and the Chinese endemic species P. huashanica (2x = 14) was obtained and although completely sterile, developed normally. Chromosome pairing observed at MI in the hybrid was high, i.e. 6.57 chiasmata per cell. The average number of bivalents was 4.04 ranging from 2–7. These results indicate a close relationship between the genome of P. huashanica and that of P. juncea. Keywords
