Abstract
Phosphinealkylenes 1 react with COS to give betaines 14. Their reaction with alkyl halides 4 generates phosphonium salts 15 which, for R2H, can be easily converted into the phosphoranes 17. The corresponding thiolesters 19 of α,β‐unsaturated carboxylic acids are obtained by means of the Wittig‐reaction. The electrolysis of 15 (R1, R2 ≠ H) gives thiolesters 16.
