Abstract
The amplitude and phase of zero‐frequency cyclotron waves induced by an accelerating gap in an electron‐beam accelerator are calculated. Using Fourier‐transform techniques, the amplitude is found to be directly related to the Fourier transform of the radial electric field. A simple field model reflects the basic physics of the gap and is used to find closed form solutions to the oscillation equations. A formal solution for suppressing oscillations over a finite energy range is also found. Keywords
