Abstract
In the fall of 1979, the newly formed Dc Field and Ions Working Group of the Corona and Field Effects Subcommittee sponsored a field program for the purpose of evaluating and comparing various instruments available for measuring electric field and ion current in the vicinity of hvdc transmission lines. In total, 9 separate field meters and 5 separate ion current meters were used. Results of the field program demonstrate the difficulties of making accurate measurements in an outdoor environment with presently available instrumentation.
