Abstract
Macrophage scavenger receptors are trimeric membrane glycoproteins with unusual ligand-binding properties which have been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis. Two types of complementary DNAs for macrophage scavenger receptors have been cloned and expressed. An understanding of the structure and function of this family of receptors will provide new insights into the mechanism of foam cell formation and the development of atherosclerosis. Keywords
