Abstract
St. Louis encephalitis (SLE) virus was isolated from adult Dermacentor variabilis ticks removed from a Raccoon (Procyon lotor) captured in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, on 24 May 1979. Neutralizing antibody against SLE virus was detected in mammals from the same area. The epidemiologic significance of the isolate is unknown. Keywords
