Abstract
Sera from 25 patients with varying degrees of acne vulgaris and sera from 23 patients without acne were tested for antibody levels to Corynebacterium acnes using the complement-fixation test. Results indicate that levels of complement-fixing antibodies to C acnes are significantly higher in patients with acne than in control groups. Antigen prepared from disrupted C acnes was found to be reactive in the complement-fixation test. Keywords
