Corynebacterium Acnes

Abstract
Sera from 25 patients with varying degrees of acne vulgaris and sera from 23 patients without acne were tested for antibody levels to Corynebacterium acnes using the complement-fixation test. Results indicate that levels of complement-fixing antibodies to C acnes are significantly higher in patients with acne than in control groups. Antigen prepared from disrupted C acnes was found to be reactive in the complement-fixation test.
