Magnetic Oxides Crystallizing in the Rutile Structure

Abstract
Mixed oxides Cr1−xMnxO2(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.7) were prepared in powder form. Measurements of resistivity versus temperature and of the optical absorption edge point to semiconductor-like behavior. The field dependence of magnetization is linear from 7 to 20 kOe. Variation of the mean number of Bohr magnetons as a function of x and neutron diffraction experiments suggest a canted spin structure.
