Abstract
Caryophyllia smithii is the Devonshire cup coral, and Pyrgoma anglicum a barnacle associated with it. A number of additional records are given from the English Channel, Bristol Channel, Irish Sea, S. W. Ireland, and the West coast of Ireland. It was previously suggested that the frequency with wh ich Caryophyllia becomes infested by Pyrgoma may vary locally, and this was confirmed. The distribution of Pyrgoma on the south-west coasts of Ireland and the western half of the British Channel agrees with that of many other warm-water spp. The records of Caryophyllia further north, in colder waters, do not show Pyrgoma associated with it.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
