The influence of resection of the small intestine on gastrin levels.

Abstract
In 16 dogs, serum gastrin levels were determined after resection of the distal and proximal half of the small intestine. The response to feeding was significantly increased after intestinal resection. Higher postresectional levels were reached after resection of the proximal half of the intestine. This may be evidence that the proximal half of the small intestine, in addition to the liver and kidney, plays an important role in the inactivation of endogenous gastrin.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
