Abstract
A fibre optical 1 × 2 switch based on Si-micromechanics for singlemode fibres is presented. For bistable operation, the input fibre is switched and fixed in a V-groove clamp using thermal actuators. The power consumption during switching is 1.5 W for several 10 ms, the insertion loss achieved so far is 5 dB and the cross talk is below –60 dB.Keywords
