Abstract
Pentafluorotellurate complexes, MTeF5, where M = K, Rb, Cs, NH4, and C5H5NH, have been prepared, and their infrared and Raman spectra have been recorded. Molecular weight and conductivity measurements indicate that the pyridinium complex is a 1 : 1 electrolyte in solution, and the vibration spectra show that the discrete TeF5 – ion persists in the solid phase. Detailed assignments of the infrared and Raman spectra of the crystalline complexes suggest a square-pyramidal (C4r) structure for the pentafluorotellurate(IV) ion. Keywords
