Enhancing Antibody

Abstract
Summary: Enhancing sera were produced in Lewis rats by several different immunizing schedules involving bilateral skin grafting and multiple injections of spleen cells. Test grafts from Buffalo (Bf) and Brown Norway (BN) donors were placed on Lewis neonates 2 to 5 and 10 to 12 days old and enhancing sera were injected once intraperitoneally at this time. Significant prolongation of graft survival was obtained with enhancing sera against Bf and BN grafts in from 10% to 60% of the trials. The viability of several grafts was extended beyond 30 days. Enhancing activity resided in the IgG fraction and was specifically effective for the grafts of the immunizing strain.
