Abstract
The magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) of IrCl62−, IrBr62−, and RuBr63− have been measured through the visible and near ultraviolet. Analysis leads to new assignments of the ligand‐to‐metal charge‐transfer bands. In particular, the conventional order of the first two allowed charge‐transfer states is reversed so that the state lies at lower energy than .
