Abstract
THE purpose of this communication is to report what we believe to be an uncommon complication of steroid therapy.Case ReportA 29-year-old Negro with pulmonary sarcoidosis had a family history including 1 cousin with diabetes. The fasting blood sugar in 1961 and in 1962 was normal (80 to 120 mg. per 100 ml.). A glucose tolerance test on February 1, 1963, revealed a blood sugar of 113 mg. per 100 ml. fasting, 151 mg. at 1/2 hour, 156 mg. at 1 hour, 113 mg. at 2 hours and 110 mg. at 3 hours after a meal.
