Uptake of Radioactive Iodine by the Thyroids of Underfed Rats

Abstract
Radioactive iodine was admd. to starved rats and their thyroid uptake was compared with that of controls fed ad libitum. Results showed a direct relationship of underfeeding to loss in body wt. The greatest amt. of I was taken up by the thyroids of the group fed ad libitum, and progressively smaller amts. were taken up by the thyroids of the underfed groups.
